Woodland Opportunity Village
In 2014 a team at the Woodland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) identified the lack of affordable housing as an urgent critical need in Woodland they wanted to address. This team began exploring the programs of Square One Villages in Eugene, Oregon. In 2016 Rev. Dr. Dan Bryant, Executive Director of Square One Villages, made a community presentation in Woodland. Over 100 interested persons including: clergy, elected officials, city officials, health professionals, social workers, legal professionals and concerned citizens attended. Given the level of community interest a new team was formed to move the project forward to provide small affordable housing for displaced residents of Woodland. Woodland Opportunity Village was incorporated as a private, non-profit benefit corporation in 2017 and received tax exempt status. The first board was formed.
